It’s easy to overlook the process when you’re in the thick of it, and even easier when the project has finished. We find it’s very helpful for all involved to take stock and look at how the process went.
We are very lucky to be in the work of creating things – making expressive video content, crafting a brands visual language, designing an experiential environment. And we never forget how much fun we can have when creating.
We’ve had the pleasure to create music videos for band, DECO a few times now. And for their latest track, Photograph, they came to us with a particularly interesting idea that we knew was going to create a great visual. That’s where “Camerahead” comes in.
Turning up at Peckham Levels, with crew and band in tow, and dancer Tali Foxworthy-Bowers, we were ready for an eventful shoot – and the day didn’t disappoint.
There was so much going on that would make this a tricky one to achieve, but we new it would give all the rewards in the end.
To start with, Peckham Levels is a converted multistorey carpark, with ramps at every turn, add in some great choreography by Tali that will have to work around all of the corners and up and down the ramps… oh, and all navigated while wearing an oversized camera head.
The camera head gear made Tali’s job for dancing so much harder than normal circumstances, but she dealt with the heat, the lack of visibility and the weight with ease, making each movement have work in character and to the song.
We love to create a positive atmosphere on our sets, and this must be the case if it’s a music video, a campaign or brand film, and also for interviews and corporate content. The content is all hugely important to us and our clients, but we endeavour to remember that we are telling stories, and the mood and attitude while filming comes across on screen, so making it positive, inclusive and collaborative is of utmost importance.
It’s a fun job, and made even greater when you work with incredibly talented people who bring it all to life.
