Sometimes we make something that never makes it out. This can be for so many reasons, and not usually bad reasons, sometimes just how things go.
One such project was a music for Erica Manzoli. We have worked with Erica on a number of music videos, and the one for her track, Stages of Grief, went very much how everyone had gone before. We worked very closely with Erica on the concept and visual style, and we were all set to create.
Filming went great, with an amazing location lifting the production, and really telling the story we wanted perfectly. The final video was a visual feast of beautiful location, mixed with Erica’s unique look, and our added concept of having multiple Erica’s on camera at once.
All were happy with the outcome, but in the end the journey of Erica’s career plan changed the need for a video for this particular track at the time. It’s always a shame when you don’t get to release a project you’ve enjoyed and love the look of, but ultimately this is all about business decisions, and if it wasn’t right at the time, then it wasn’t right. It would be more wrong to force something that now doesn’t fit the ever changing landscape.
Sometimes an unused project can be a future projects starting point, other times it may get a release later, or it may simply go into the archives and one for us to enjoy on our own. Whatever the next step, we don’t forget to enjoy the moment of creation as much as a release of a job. We always take such great pride in our creations, released or not.
