Filmmaker, Adam Lawson, and Actor/Producer, Chelsea Clark, were in the process of filming their short film, Jackpot, when they got in touch to ask about how we might be able to bring to life a title frame and credits design for the film.

Creating titles for a narrative film, or for a brand campaign film, is very much like designing a brand identity, just with a different use and lifespan.

Designing the title frame and credits for the film Jackpot was a fun task. Researching old graphic languages of the casino industry was a deep dive into some nostalgic visuals and typography that brought us right back to classic Hollywood.

 

Our sketches show the different directions we considered, and how one brief can have a hundred ‘correct’ answers. What we settled on and developed, was a look that gave a nod to the past, while having a graphic punch that would still stand out when placed over the striking visuals and colouring of the film.
